The Ram 1500 Lone Star Edition is one sharp-looking truck—and it’s reserved exclusively for Texans. For years Ram has been well aware of “The Lone Star State’s” affinity for pickup trucks, and in 2019 unveiled an all-new version of the original Texas truck with features to make it even more appealing to local buyers.
The Lone Star Edition is based off of the Ram 1500’s popular mid-grade Big Horn trim, with a few key differences that enable it to stand out from every other truck on the road.
Exclusive “Lone Star Edition” badges adorn the tailgate and interior—letting other drivers and passengers alike know that this is no ordinary run-of-the-mill Ram pickup truck. Situated one trim level up from the base Ram 1500 Tradesman, the Lone Star Edition is fitted with more creature comforts that make it more civilian friendly.
The Lone Star can be built in quad cab and crew cab body styles in both RWD and 4x4 configurations. The quad cab is available with only a 6’4” box, while the crew cab can be ordered with either a 5’7” or 6’4” box.
Stylish Looks and Updated Interior
A stylish chrome grille and front and rear bumpers on the Lone Star replace the Tradesman’s more utilitarian black plastic attire. Upgraded 18-inch aluminum wheels are now standard equipment, along with fog lamps and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls.
The Ram Lone Star Edition is also available with class-exclusive in-floor storage. These storage bins are cleverly hidden and waterproof, making a great option to store valuables or use as a cooler when tailgating. If chrome isn’t your taste, a Night Edition and Sport Appearance Package is also available that feature upgraded 20-inch wheels and black and body-color accents, bumpers and trim.
A massive 12-inch UConnect infotainment system with navigation is also available with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility for $2095—replacing the standard 3” by 5” UConnect display.
Powertrain Choices
Make no mistake—despite its luxury appointments—the Lone Star Edition is built Texas tough and ready to be put to work. Under the hood you’ll find the choice of four powertrain options.
The standard 3.6L Pentastar V6 with eTorque utilizes variable valve timing and two-step variable valve lift to maximize fuel-efficiency while still delivering an impressive 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque.
For an additional $1795, Ram’s renown 5.7L Hemi V8 engine is available that produces 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. The Hemi powertrain is also available with eTorque for $1995—a mild hybrid system that produces an extra 130 lb-ft of supplemental launch torque with the assistance of a battery-powered, belt-driven generator.
And last, the Ram 1500 Lone Star Edition can be equipped with a 3.0L V6 turbo diesel engine for $4995 that provides unmatched refinement, efficiency and towing capabilities. With 260 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque, the Ram 1500 can tow up to 12,560 lbs. when properly equipped with the EcoDiesel V6.
